The Rev Canon Juan Andres Quevedo Bosch was born in Matanzas, Cuba. He received his Licentiate in Theology (L.Th) from El Seminario Evangelica de Teologia/ Evangelical Theological Seminary in Matanzas in 1989, specializing in Biblical Interpretation and Liturgics. He then taught at the Seminary for 3 years. In the Diocese of Cuba he served on the Standing Committee, the Diocesan Council and the Commission on Ministry. Fr. Juan then traveled to Canada to study at Trinity College, University of Toronto. At Trinity, he obtained his Master’s of Divinity (M.Div) and Master’s of Theology (Th.M). In the Diocese of Toronto, Fr. Juan served on the Steering Committee for the “No Longer Strangers Project” and the Diocesan Commission on Worship and Doctrine. In 2001 Fr. Juan arrived at the Diocese of Long Island and was elected Rector of Church of the Redeemer, Astoria. Later on he answered his Diocese’s call to aid a neighbor church, St. George’s, Astoria and Bishop Orris Walker appointed him Priest-In-Charge, a role he continues until today. In 2006, Fr. Juan was installed as an Honorary Canon for the Diocese of Long Island at the Cathedral of Incarnation, the first Hispanic Canon in its history. That same year Fr. Juan was elected Deputy to General Convention and was elected onto the General Board of Examining Chaplains. In the Diocese of Long Island he has served on the Diocesan Council and is now serving his 7th year on the Commission on Ministry. Fr. Juan is also a long time member of Societas Liturgicas, an ecumenical society for liturgical study and a member of the International Anglican Liturgical Consultation. He lives with his wife Adria, enjoys house music, and likes to watch break dancing.
